Sweet Kyler has been with us for a little over 6 months now. We started gently training him a few weeks after arrival. I had to take some time off from training- but have restarted again about a month or so ago 🙂
I only work with him for a few minutes at a time a few times a week. This shows Kyler that training isn’t a long thing he has to endure. I usually have one simple goal at a time. For example- my goal would be to keep him on the catch rope and stand still for a short time…or touch his ear without him flipping out.
It can take time, but the slower I go, the easier it is as he never learns to fear the process. My current goal is to spend enough time with him so I can hand shear him with a catch rope in the spring.
